Why should you have a bucket list?
In my earlier blog post, I have mentioned that I lost my love, years ago to a sudden heart attack with no warning and no goodbye. It came almost as an immediately in-my-face lesson to me. Life is extremely fragile and short.
I begin questioning.
“What if I were to die tomorrow?”
And then months later, a good friend of mine showed me an old movie called “The Bucket List”
The movie is starred by Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman.
The story is about two terminally ill men, escaping from a cancer ward and head off on a road trip with a wish list of to-dos before they die.
By the end of the movie, I was totally motivated and I started my own bucket list. I began listing down all my dreams and goals that I have always thought of. Glad to say, over the years, my list have grew and the best of all, I have ticked most of them out.
I’m certainly a believer of Bucket List and here’s the 5 reasons WHY I think you should have a bucket list.

5 Reasons Why You Should Have A Bucket List
- You don’t want to live life with regrets
Picture this: You are at your death bed.
Would you be glad that you have spend all your life slogging in your office. Does having all the latest gadgets in the world makes you happy. Do you feel that you live to work rather than work to live? Would you be glad that you did not climbing that Great Wall of China. That you did not see that northern light. That you did not try something new. Would you regret or would you be glad?
- It makes you more interesting.
Ever met a new person, and think that they are really interesting, because they have tried so many different things and traveled to so much unique places and have so many unusual experiences ? They never seem to run out of topics to talk about and they approach life in such a different light. Having a bucket list could make YOU that interesting person.
- Bucket list can help motivates you
Life can get so busy that we forget to tend to ourselves. Days become months. Months became years. Years became decades. Bucket list helps set a timeline so you will not forget about things that gives you a sense of purpose, in achieving personal satisfaction. Because your bucket list are things that are truly precious to you, you waste less time on irrelevant things.
- Live a meaningful and memorable life.
The bucket list is all about you and your life. It is entirely about satisfying your emotional, spiritual need. In life, best times are the memories we hold on to and not the material possessions. In addition, you will be so proud and feel so satisfied when you achieve things you have set out to do.
- Because You never know when is your last day on EarthThis might sound crude. Have you been seeing the news lately? Plane crash, car accident, heart attack during a marathon. Do you know when is our last day on earth? We will never know what might happen tomorrow. Our time on earth is not guaranteed. Since it’s not guaranteed, what would you choose to do today?
Is there something that you have always want to do or see? What if tomorrow never comes? Will you settle for what you have done today? So one day when you die and when you read the book of your life story, would you love what you read?
